Lydia Borton

Lydia Borton began dancing at the age of 3 at Rena’s Dance Unlimited. Throughout her time there, she studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and pointe. She attended the Cecchetti Council of America summer intensive four times and has passed her Grade I through Advanced Grade VII Cecchetti Exams. She also participated in Mouvement Dance Theatre for five seasons working with various guest choreographers.

Following high school, Lydia obtained a BFA in ballet from Friends University under the direction of Stan and Sharon Rogers. While there, she had the opportunity to work with many talented artists and choreographers, and even shared the stage with New York City Ballet’s current Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan.

After college, Lydia returned home to teach at Rena’s for the first time. She continued pursuing performance opportunities in all styles of dance and joined Fort Wayne Ballet in 2018. During her time there, Lydia realized that she had a passion for teaching the next generation of artists. Over the next several years she continued teaching at various studios throughout the Midwest. She began working on her Cecchetti teacher certifications virtually in 2024 and returned to performance in the same year with the Colorado Dance Collective.

Lydia moved back to the metro-east with her husband in 2025 and is very excited to continue studying and teaching at Rena’s.
